Dr. Ross and the whole team went to COMOM earlier this month! Colorado Mission of Mercy is a wonderful event that donates dentistry and takes place once a year in a different city throughout Colorado.
This year, Dr. Ross and team traveled to Henderson, Colorado October 3rd and 4th to volunteer in the dental restorative section of the program. The whole Ross Family Dentistry Team stayed in a nearby hotel, where we ordered pizza friday night and got to enjoy each others company outside of work! It was awesome spending time with everyone outside of the dental office!!
At COMOM we treated around 15 patients on Friday and Saturday, and completed over 50 dental composite fillings! Megan, our Dental Hygienist, volunteered in the oral cancer screening section of the program. She was able to screen over 50 patients for oral cancer, gum lesions, and overall tooth problems!!!
The total number of dental patients that were helped this year at COMOM was more than 1,200 adults and children. The dental patients are seen on a first come first serve basis. It was truly amazing to see how much need is out there! Over 1 MILLION dollars of donated dentistry was donated! What a great turn out!
COMOM depends on it’s volunteers and donations to make the program possible. This year there were nearly 200 dental volunteers from all across Colorado. There were 125 portable dental chairs that were brought in. Dental patients received free dental cleanings, fillings, crowns, dentures, extractions, and root canals in two days.
COMOM was established in 2007. The event has traveled to Alamosa, Loveland, Brighton, Colorado Springs, Brush, and Pueblo. Next year COMOM is said to be in Tranidad, Co. The dates have not been established as of yet.
Ross Family Dentistry team has already decided that we are going to be traveling to Trinidad next year! Dr. Ross and team are proud to be one of the Loveland Dentist that were able to donate their time, dental knowledge and skills to help make this possible. We thought it was a very humbling experience and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
